Vintage 20th Century Chinese Famille Rose glazed garden seat Feng Sui
$375
SHIPPING OFFERED
Offered for sale is this vintage 20th Century Chinese Famille Rose glazed ceramic garden seat, made post-WW2 and most likely dating from the 1960’s to 1980’s. Despite research the maker is unknown, but would probably be from the Jingdezhen region.
On the form of an antique Chinese drum, the charming hand-decorated (not transfer printed) design features classical Buddhist, Feng Sui and ancient Chinese symbols of good luck, wealth, prosperity, familial bliss and long life. Dual repeating main panels depict a pair of cranes amongst multiple lotus blossom and foliage, set in a watery landscape. Each dividing ‘side’ consists of a repeating pierced gallery and stylised Feng Sui symbols. An upper Ruyi collar leads to the seat, with pierced centre (another Feng Sui element) surrounded by a repeat of the watery landscape found on the main body.
With a great amount of positive Feng Sui, this is a stunning decorators piece that can be enjoyed in an outdoor as well as indoor setting (as pictured, set pieces not included). A previous owner has placed three pieces of protective material on the base to stop any floor scratches.
In excellent original condition, no cracks or losses. Was carefully cleaned before sale, however the dust of ages built up over time in the pierced galleries was left in place out of respect for that patination (as well as confirming its authentic nature as a vintage piece and not modern reproduction).
Measures 46cm (h) x 34cm (diameter, at widest) approximately.
Please check the photos as they form part of the item description.
Cash or direct deposit sale only. Can freight at buyers expense (must include insurance for damage or loss) or can personally deliver to Macedon Ranges, Melbourne, Geelong or Ballarat CBD’s for a fee. Where possible (or upon request) a physical inspection is available and always encouraged. Accurate as possible description at time of listing, however like any secondhand item is sold without guarantee or return so please ask any questions before purchase - as any sale is final.
