ELECTRIC JUG ADVERTISING SIGN SEC AUSTRALIA COLLECTABLE RARE 1950s
$90
ANTIQUE AUSTRALIAN ADVERTISING
STATE ELECTRICAL COMMISSION OF VICTORIA 1921
SIZE 68.5 cm X 98.5 cm on 3mm thick cardboard
This is a great piece of Australian Advertising history and quite rare. Great for an unusual quirky wall decoration in a home or man cave, or for somebody who is into collecting things from the SEC or our past history or advertising history.
This sign is in poor condition.
It reads: THE CHEAPEST & QUICKEST WAY TO BOIL WATER! An ELECTRIC JUG, SOON PAYS FOR ITSELF, with it’s Saving of Time, Money … Effort. All Types Available.
Includes a white label marked – State Electricity Commission of Victoria 1921
I have a selection of these SEC advertising boards, which were removed from an old SEC building in a small country town back in the early 1990’s. They are damaged, warped and some have pieces removed, because they were used to make a backing for a shelf unit in the building.
Please take a look at my other listings for the other signs.
Happy bidding!
I can arrange local pick-up from Cobram Victoria as well. Or we can negotiate to send through the post/courier. Please message to enquire about this.
SEC information from Wikipedia:
The State Electricity Commission of Victoria (SECV, ECV or SEC) is a government-owned electricity supplier in Victoria, Australia. It was set up in 1918, and by 1972 it was the sole agency in the state for electricity generation, transmission, distribution and supply.[1] Control of the SECV was by a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Victorian Government. After 1993, the SECV was disaggregated into generation, transmission and distribution companies, which were further split and then privatised in the mid to late 1990s. However, electricity supply agreements with the Portland and Point Henry aluminium smelters were retained by SECV, which continued as their electricity supplier.[2]
