professional and well designed aviaries
$3,500
I have designed and built my aviaries based on fifty years of keeping parrots of one sort or another. I genuinely believe you will not find any better from both the health of the birds and ease of their management.
I have two aviaries that are basically the same. The only difference is one is 4.5 metres wide the other is 6.5 metres. They are 2.1 metres high with a width of 3 metres.
Their are features are as follows ;
• Fixed down onto a sloping concrete pad (rain and water doesn’t go back into the cage – no dampness = healthy birds) and therefore also vermin proof. I’ve never had rats, mice or snakes in these cages. I spray every six months with a surface spray around the complex for ants, spiders, web moth, mosquitoes and cockroaches.
• Placing your birds on concrete also interrupts the breeding cycle of intestinal worms. I have the poop tested for worm eggs every couple of years as a matter of course but don’t have to treat my birds.
• The frame is made from milled finish aluminium angle and held together with tek screws. (All you need to take it apart is a drill with the one size tek bit)
• Aluminium doesn’t rust so always looks spot on! There is no corrosion.
• It would come apart very easily in panel form and conveyed laid down on a car trailer. Remove the roof first and then happy days.
• The colour is natural as you can get to obtain environmental aesthetics for both the birds and yourself.
• The roof is insulated and the cages are well ventilated to keep the birds cool during summer and warm in winter. A sprinkler system also assists when it’s very hot.
• Each section quarantines a pair from the adjoining section. However they can see each other through the transparent insert. This design prevents illness being transferred by physical interaction. (I never have a sick bird)
• Easy to change the water, easy to put treats or soak seed onto the cage via the front box section. (The water spills outside the aviary.)
• Has a wide and lockable safely section for ease of cleaning and moving about.
• Open the rear hinged door to a section and the boxed feeding tray that’s attached to the inside of the door presents itself. (You don’t have to walk in the aviary to feed them.)
• The box captures most the husk so it easy to clean before refilling the bowl with new seed.
• The breeding boxes hang at the rear and half below the level of the door so when you want to look in the box, the inspection door is in front of your eyes. You don’t have to get into the aviary to check, you are still standing in the safety section.
• The perches are supported a on V channel bracket so cut new lengths to 75 cm and you can replace perches with ease.
• The birds can only fly from front to rear. Nothing is at the same level so the birds are forced to work and fly which keeps them fit and healthy.
• To clean the sections, reach in with a hoe or broom and rake the material to the rear. The sections are 2 metres long so via still standing in the safety section you can reach forward and drag the rubbish back and towards you. I can clean the small aviary (6 sections in about 30 minutes)
• Other than catching birds you never have to enter the cage and upset the birds. As a result your birds will calm and don’t move as you walk in front or along the safety section.
I can go on but in short, I firmly believe you will not find a better design.
Prices $3500 for the six section and $4500 for the eight section. (That has the extra feature of a large holding section at one end.) The materials alone would cost you a lot more.
