VINTAGE HHP DRAGONWARE COFFEE SET - MADE IN JAPAN CIRCA 1950s
$250
There is a story behind this Coffee Set. A relative, who was an Officer on the ship Raimondo Montecuccoli which bought the Italian Olympic Team to Melbourne for the Olympics in 1956, purchased this set in Japan in 1956 as a gift to my Aunty. The brand is HHP and it displays the face of a Geisha on the bottom when you lift the cup up to the light. I believe this is called lithophane and usually found on Japanese Moriage Dragonware Sets. The pattern showing dragons is raised. There is the Coffee Pot, Creamer, Sugar Bowl, Six Cups and Six Saucers.
There is a picture of the Raimondo Montecuccoli attached for those interested. RARELY USED.
