MILITARIA: AUST ARMY c.1985 VINTAGE 42nd Bn RQR UNIT COLOUR PATCH
$5
The Army Unit Colour Patch [UCP] was originally designed circa World War I as a simple means of allowing other members to easily identify a member's Unit, Division and Battalion. The Army UCP is worn by all members of Units, Regiments or Formations, with the exception of members of 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment who wear a distinctive olive green puggaree without a UCP. The UCP is worn on the right side of the puggaree of the ‘Slouch Hat’ on all other Corps and Regiments.
This UCP is part of the Australian Army’s Infantry Series and was worn by members serving in 42nd Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment until the Battalion amalgamated with 31st Battalion Royal Queensland Regiment in 2008 to become 31st/42nd Battalion, Royal Queensland Regiment. This UCP was among the first examples to be issued to the Battalion circa 1985. It is manufactured from felt and required sewing to the puggaree. The UCP is oval in shape measuring 60 mm x 38 mm with purple over light blue and is in good unissued condition.
An opportunity for the collector or former member to acquire a UCP worn by members of the 42nd Battalion Royal Queensland Regiment prior to 2008.
Pick-up from Forest Lake or postage extra.
