MILITARIA: CURRENT AUSTRALIAN ARMY CADETS PATCHES
$5
SHIPPING OFFERED
Cadets have been in existence in Australia since the first unit was established in 1866, at St Mark's Collegiate School, NSW. This unit subsequently became the King's School Cadet Corps in 1869.
During the period 1949-51, the title of 'Australian Cadet Corps' [ACC] and the Torch and Sword surmounted by a St Edward’s Crown logo was officially adopted and shoulder patches were issued circa 1960 featuring this logo on a blue background. In 1993, the title of 'Australian Army Cadet Corps' [AACC] was approved and the shoulder patch modified accordingly. In 2001 as a recommendation of the Topley Report, the title of ‘Australian Army Cadets’ [AAC] was approved, again with a change in the design of the shoulder flash. The AAC Colour Patch was introduced for wear c.2003.
The AAC patches here are:
• One only AAC Left Shoulder Insignia. The AAC left shoulder insignia is an elliptical royal blue patch with the AAC emblem embroidered in yellow. It is to be worn on the left shoulder of all specified items of dress by all members of the AAC at all times. The insignia is worn on the top of the left sleeve 1 cm below the point of the shoulder on of the polyester shirt and DPCU jacket and 2 cm below the point of the shoulder on sweaters.
• One only AAC Colour Patch worn on the puggaree by all ADF and AAC members posted or appointed to positions within the AAC organisation. The AAC colour patch is positioned centrally on the right-hand side of the puggaree with the blue triangle leading as seen in the illustration above.
