PHILATELY: 1970s VINTAGE AUSTRALIA POST PREPAID 6c BUFF ENVELOPE

This vintage 1970s envelope measures 147 mm x 89 mm and is wallet-style and buff coloured. The envelope has a 6c red Queen Elizabeth II embossed die measuring 29 mm in height on the obverse. The Post Office Preferred logo is printed in black ink on the reverse together with ‘SENDER’S NAME’ on Line 1 and ‘ADDRESS’ on Lines 2 and 3. Under the flap ‘15210/70’ code is printed.
Australian Standard AS4611-1999 – Mailing Envelopes defines Post Office Preferred [POP] envelopes. This Standard superseded AS P2—1969. Compliance with these Standards allowed the use of the official distinguishing symbol for POP envelopes. This size of envelope does not comply with AS4611-1999, but must have been compliant under the superseded AS P2-1969 to allow the POP to be used at the time.
For its age of 50 years, the envelope is in very good unused condition and comes protected in an archival sleeve.
Pick-up from Forest Lake or postage extra. Standard Postage will cost $2.50.
