SHIPPING OFFERED
Rare copy of the October 15th 1972 edition of British Vogue with a Norman Parkinson double exposure cover photo of Susan Moncur in a Hardy Amies green & white tweed coat & knits. It's a 140 page ‘Fresh Air Fashion' issue with gorgeous early 1970s autumn winter coats, cashmere, tweeds, leather and furs by designers including Yves Saint Laurent Rive Gauche, Loewe, Jap, Missoni, Sheridan Barnett, Tuttabankem and Zandra Rhodes. There's also a very special 13 page fashion spread with beautiful photos by David Bailey of Jean Shrimpton wearing her kind of clothes at her new home in Wales.
The fashion and beauty photographers in this issue are Norman Parkinson, David Bailey, Clive Arrowsmith, Arthur Elgort and Frederic Ohringer and there are Antonio Lopez fashion drawings. Other models include Sue Baloo, the Men in Vogue section features ballet dancers and actors in knitwear and the opera singer Kiri Te Kanawa appears in the beauty pages.
This issue has a big Vogue Living section with colourful and eye catching early Seventies interior design in kitchens, dining rooms, bedrooms and bathrooms and a 'Power People' feature (all men!) with black and white portrait photos by Henri Cartier-Bresson and words by James Cameron. Plus lots of great early 70s full page fashion, beauty and interiors adverts too including Guerlain and Cabochard perfumes, Elizabeth Arden, Marie Helvin and other well-known models for Max Factor and Lauren Hutton for Revlon 'Spicy Ices'.
The magazine is in very good vintage condition overall with age related wear including creasing and a very light ring mark on the front cover, paper browning on some page edges and some dog ear corners. It was a 142 page issue but one page in the beauty section was neatly removed long ago leaving 140. It is otherwise intact and a lovely issue.
Please examine the photos carefully and contact me if you have any questions. Pick up from Kensington NSW 2033 in Sydney Eastern Suburbs.
I'm downsizing and selling a wide variety of items including vintage British, American and Australian magazines. Please check out my other ads while you're here to see more unique finds. Thanks for looking.
