In the Mist of the Mountain Ethel Turner Signed 1st edition 1906 to A.G Stephens.
Hardcover original rough-cut pages with wear to binding as expected with age. Gold decoration on the title and author’s name are in good condition. The cover picture framed in a decorated panel is clear but the gold embossing has been worn with reading. 267pp. Australian Fiction by Ethel Turner (Mrs H.R. Curlewis). Decorative Green Cloth Boards. Some black and white illustrations. The binding is becoming loose but the book remains secure. Dedicated to A.G. Stephens October 1906, please see his role as a critic below.
A special note on the inside cover from Turner regarding the development of her characters reads:
"Please stern critic are my characters growing up at all or are they still masquerading in their elders’ clothes-as you once so horribly said?"

A.G Stevens worked for the Bulletin and established the paper’s famous ‘Red Page’ of literature-related content. As literary editor and head of the Bulletin’s publishing arm, ‘A.G.S.’ was the country’s most widely-read literary critic and significantly influenced the careers and work of a generation of writers, among them Henry Lawson, Joseph Furphy, Steele Rudd, Miles Franklin and Mary Gilmore.
This is rare book of Australian literary history from the early 19th c.
