Fuel tank & car panel Chemically dipping & Restoration

This seems to be a very IMPORTANT part of your restoration that gets overlooked or taken too lightly. Many don’t realise just how much dirt,rust, water & foreign materials ETC. are in these old fuel tanks & sender units,that have been sitting around for many years.

When you’ve spent many years & heaps of money restoring your pride & joy you want reliability, to be able to jump in anytime & go for a Cruise, not broken down on the side of the road, or parked up in the shed, because your carby has a gut full of rust or dirt.
We used to used the por 15 fuel tank liner system, but have since found out that it breaks down after a couple of years & you get the same problems, small particles going threw your fuel system & clogging your carby.
PROCEDURE
We now offer a seven step cleaning & restoration process.
Step 1 - fuel tanks are fully submerged into a large tank to degrease & remove paint. This can done 3-4 times depending on the condition of your tank. Its high pressure water blasted inside & out,in between each dip & a camera is used to inspect the internals in between all processes.
Step 2 - tank goes into a second tank of High Quality Chemicals that removes rust/iron. This usually has to be done multiple times as well & water blasted in between, until it runs clean water.
Step 3 - Passivation - this is the final dipping process, it coats the metal surfaces to prevent flash rusting. It’s then heat dried inside & out before the final process.
Step 4 - Inhibitor coating - this will further protect the metal surface for months, if stored in a clean dry environment,before any repairs or painting. This is put over the inside & outside of tank. It is easily removed prior to painting, by swelling petrol inside, wiping outside with warm soapy water or wax & grease removal, so primers & paints stick.
Step 5 - Rust Repairs - any rust holes that show up after this process, depending on just how bad they are, can be repaired & lead wiped over repair for extra insurance against leaking.
Step 6 - Dents can be pulled out to a degree, depending on how bad they are,ready for minimum filler before painting. You can’t repair them as good, without cutting the tank in half to repair them.
Step 7 - Even after all the above work, we can’t guarantee to remove every small speck of dirt or rust from tank & fuel lines. Small particles get stuck in the seams of tank or behind baffles. The last thing you want after all the above work, is foreign material dislodging & ending up in your Carby. We supply litre bottles of a Special fuel tank chemical that you put in your first fill.
It dissolves any small particles of dirt or rust before it reaches your carby & cleans out your fuel lines. It’s a good water dispersant, unfortunately we get a percentage of water in the fuel we buy.
It restores old fuel up to 2 years & it stops gum & varnish build up in your engine. It’s also ideal for marine use as well, it keeps your fuel active. After initial use you just use a small amount to maintain your fuel system.
I use it in all my vehicles, car, 4WD , Diesel truck, I even put it in my lawnmower fuel to keep the system clean, it works well & I keep stock.

Rather than supply cheaply made overseas problem senders, we prefer to fully restore your Genuine senders, that have proved the test of time, already lasting for many many years.
They are tested, lightly blasted to remove rust & dirt, throughly cleaned , resistor removed, tested & cleaned & replaced if needed. Terminals cleaned & tightened for better contact, tops painted to stop rusting. New longer filters are fitted , made out of a better material that won’t rust, metal floats are checked for leaks, repaired or replaced if required.
