'The Art of Pro Hart' by Eugene Lumbers in good condition.
The blurb:- ...He grew up in the outback without formal training in artistic techniques, and his palette reflects the starkness and subtleties of the colours of inland Australia.
In the splendid selection of paintings reproduced in the book one may see the effects of this unique artistic background. Flowers and insects shimmer with the intensity of colour that impressed itself upon the mind of a child. The landscapes of the outback are integral to paintings with deep philisophical implications. Pro Hart's work as a miner, and life in the mining community of Broken Hill, inspired canvases of which some are poignant social comments and others are scenes of communal activity, Breughel-like in their humanity but uniquely Australian in their treatment.
But the 'Australiana' for which Pro Hart became famous represents only one aspect of an inventive and expansive genius. The dramatic Trafalgar series of paintings, which combine historical and metaphysical insights into one vast event, are works of almost unlimited dimensions. They serve as only one example of an artist seeking constantly new horizons.
In Eugene Lumbers' text for this book he tells the story of the young bushman who once sold his paintings for five shillings apiece and is now among the most sought after of Australian painters. The biography of Pro Hart explains the man and gives a revealing glimpse into the mind of a genius at work. In conjunction with the reproductions of Pro Hart's paintings it forms a valuable segment of art history and a book to give constant plaesure and satisfaction.

144 pages. Published by Rigby Publishers Limited in 1981 [Reprinted]. ISBN 0******1563-X. [Approx 28 x 21.5 x 1.4cms & 750g].
This book is in good condition with pages clean, tightly bound and no creasing of the spine. There is a bit of yellowing around the edges of the inside of the front cover and the first couple of pages, with some spotting to the pre-title page and the blank page opposite, with similar occuring at the back but just affecting blank pages. Exterior shows a few signs of of use/storage as per photos 1 & 2 including a little fading at the spine, a few light bumps along the bottom edge of the covers, a crease to the tip of the bottom corner of the front cover, and some very light marks [and a few impressions along the bottom] to the closed edges of the pages. That all sounds like a lot since I try to mention any faults, but colour plates and text remain good.
Also have some other art related books listed separately at present.
