$45
SHIPPING OFFERED
'Flora' - The Gardener's Bible - Over 20,000 Plants [10th Anniversary Updated Edition] from Gardening Australia in good condition [please see details below]. It comes in it's original hardcover protective sleeve.
The blurb:- ...a comprehensive, beautifully illustrated encyclopedia containing information on more than 20,000 plants from all around the world. Organized in an A to Z format by botanical name, the individual entries provide a detailed descripton of each plant and its features, notes on orgin, cultivation requirements, growth habit and propagation.
...With a foreword by respected author and gardener Peter Cundall, the introductory section features expert guidance on intergrating native plants, landscape design principles, problem weeds, organic gardening and attracting fauna to you garden. There are detailed explanations of the characteristics and gardening needs of each of Australia's six main climate regions...
Contents page is shown in photo 3 [can be enlarged to make it easier to read]. Please excuse the light glare off the glossy pages and a bit of a shadow towards the top in some photos.
1584 pages. Published by HarperCollins Publishers Australia in 2013. ISBN 978-0******3161-9. [Approx 35.5 x 25.5 x 8.5cms & a smidge under 6.5Kg according to the bathroom scales]
This comprehensive and well illustrated large format hardback is in good condition with pages clean and tightly bound. The thing to note is that the bottom edge of the book has a few marks towards the middle which seem to indicate that it has probably come in contact with a bit of moisture/dampness [photo 10]. There is a very faint wave to the edge of the pages in this area but the pages are glossy which has kept them good. The alphabetical sections are separated by double full colour speads, and the very bottom edge of the "E" section appears to have been stuck together at some stage. Apart from that, the bottom corner margin of one page has a bit of a light mark to it. All appears excellent aside from the aforementioned, with the covers of the book itself remaining pretty much perfect having been protected by the outer cover. And the outer cover, which is made from solid card with a plastic handle and velcro patches to secure it, shows a few signs of use/storage as per photos 1 & 2 including little patches of the top colour layer worn near the top and bottom of the spine and a corner of the closing flap, and a few light indentations to the back. Also, the white inside of the cover shows a small watermark near the top edge of the spine [which seems to match up with the previous mention of the effects of dampness to the book's bottom edge, since the book was upside down in the cover when it first came to me]. If not for those dampness effects mentioned, which aren't very much in the scheme of things, I'd have described this book as being in excellent condition.
Also have several other books on plants and gardening listed separately at present including 'Flora's Native Plants' - The Definitive Guide to Australian Plants [Over 1800 Plants] from Gardening Australia.
Please note:-
- Inspections welcome.
- Best to phone [three&two zero&nine seven&one eight&two] if you are keen to collect. I don't use a mobile and often only get to check messages late in the evening, so please check your email for replies [they sometimes end up in your Spam folder].
- No Paypal [sorry]
