SHIPPING OFFERED
'How To Make Gravy' - A to Z, A Mongrel memoir by Paul Kelly in fair condition. The book itself is good but the silly translucent/wax paper dust cover hasn't fared so well [as below]. It's a First Edition hardback as per photo 4.
The blurb:- Paul Kelly is a uniquely gifted storyteller. For thirty years he has written songs of uncommon directness about everything from love and land rights to cricket and cooking. 'Before Too Long', 'To Her Door', 'Leaps and Bounds', 'Don't Start Me Talking', 'Dumb Things', 'From Little Things Big Things Grow', and 'How to Make Gravy', his songs connect generations of listeners across the country.
Now Kelly has written the memoir everyone hoped he would. 'How To Make Gravy' mirrors the structure of his legendary A to Z shows, where he performs around a hundred of his songs alphabetically over four nights. Taking lyrics as starting points in this book, he tells stories of his life - the highs and lows of performing, the art of songwriting, being on the road with the band, tales of his childhood, family, friends and fellow musicians. All illuminate Kelly's wide sources of inspiration, offering an unequalled portrait of the creative mind.
Lyrics for the songs are included, as are a few personal photos and images that inspired him.
Contents pages are shown in photos 5 & 6.
This impressive 568 page tome was published in 2010 [1st Edition] by Hamish Hamilton [an imprint of Penguin Books]. ISBN 978-1-926428-22-2. [Approx 24 x 16 x 6cms & 1045g]
The book itself is in great condition with pages clean and tightly bound. There is a light mark to the top edge of the closed pages and the two pages before the title page have been opened a little too roughly at some stage resulting in the binding there being a little exposed [everything is still secure]. The hardcover has taken a bump to the bottom of the spine causing a small tear but is great otherwise as per photo 3. The translucent dust cover let's the side down with creasing, tears to its edges at bottom of spine and back, with the remnants of a price sticker on the front. Price has been kept low accordingly.
Also have some other music related books listed separately at present as well as a hardback edition of 'Love is Strong As Death' - Poems chosen by Paul Kelly.
Please note:-
- Inspections welcome.
- Best to phone [three&two zero&nine seven&one eight&two] if you are keen to collect. I don't use a mobile and often only get to check messages late in the evening, so please check your email for replies [they sometimes end up in your Spam folder].
- No Paypal [sorry]
