AN ATTRACTIVE ANTIQUE SCOTTISH 8 DAY LONGCASE [GRANDFATHER] CLOCK c.1815
WITH THE LOVELY CREAM BACKGROUND DIAL IN A VIBRANT MAHOGANY CASE
The Scottish Clock by McLellan of Stonehouse [near Glasgow] c. 1815 has a notably eye catching dial with hand painted flowers in a framed design.
The movement is an excellent time keeper with bell strike chimes on the hour [can be silenced]. Winder included.
The case is of figured mahogany and the overall is a very appealing clock.
CONDITION: Some very old water damage on floor pediment surface, but no loss of strength. Minor blemishes in the case, mainly on the plinth. Excellent bright, cream background, dial. Date dial not working, no door lock. Overall a very attractive clock.
SIZE: 231` H x 51 W x 24 D cm.
I restore longcase clocks as a retirement hobby to prevent my body and brain from rusting. Hence why the lower pricing.

- AN ENGLISH 8 DAY LONGCASE / GRANDFATHER CLOCK c. 1840AN ENGLISH 8 DAY LONGCASE / GRANDFATHER CLOCK c. 1840 A slightly smaller oak with mahogany crossbanding clock made by Edwin Clark of Weymouth [Dorset] who was active from 1830 to 1853. The dial is of silvered brass with engraved floral themed corners and marked Tempus Fugit in the arch [Tempus Fugit is NOT a brand, it is Latin for “Time Flies”, the term has been used for centuries]. The case is of figured mahogany with stringing and cross banding used widely. The dial has painted scenes of cottages in the 4 corners and arch. The case has a caddy top, full length columns and caught my eye when I first saw it. The door has the original key.
