Small Black Antique or Vintage Tin C1915-25 of Menthol Snuff
$30
35mm long by 30mm wide by 20mm deep black tin with gold enameled labelling and hinged lid of Compound Menthol Snuff. I have not opened it but I believe it is full. Made by Burroughs, Wellcome & Co., probably in Sydney before about 1920. There are some spotty rust and scratchings on the tin. A better example of it is held in the collection of the Whitehorse Historical Society Inc in Victoria although that one is empty. It was used to treat nasal problems like a cold or hay fever. An article on page 82 of the British Journal of Nursing dated 22 January 1916 explains that the use of metal boxes was being replaced in the tropics with corked watch-shaped bottles. Pickup for cash in Canberra. Postage not included in price.

- 5 Vintage Small Silverplated Meat Serving ForksCollection of 5 vintage/perhaps antique meat server forks. Most are silverplated although the silver has worn off the oldest 5-pronged one. That one was made by Mappin and Webb, silversmiths based in both London and Sheffield between about 1880 and 1920. Unfortunately, it has a crack in the faux bone-handle on one side too. The longest one with the pinkish faux bone-handle is about 175mm long and the shortest (all metal) is 140mm long. Postage is not included in price.
