VINT 4-STROKE PETTER UNIVERSAL PU8 FLAT TWIN ENGINE STATIONARY ENGINE

For sale is this PETTER UNIVERSAL PU8 four-stroke flat twin engine produced between 1933 and 1947 sold in large numbers through government contracts and earned a reputation for driving boats in the D Day landings and for crossing the Rhine during the liberation of Germany in the Second World War.
Ministry of Defence generating and pumping sets were supplied in a carrying cradle or a heavy-duty frame. A standard feature for ex-military sets is a pair of fitted boxes, one for tools and the other for spares, intended to keep the electrics in working order. Although the PU series went out of production in 1947, many were retained by the Ministry of Defence to power fuel pumps and generating plants and were brought back into service during the Falklands War in 1982.
The actual display model shown in the last photo is the 8hp 1800rpm version in the military cradle with a flexible shaft drive, supplied to the Chief Inspector Engineer Signal Stores in1940.

NSW Street Sign measuring approx. 87cm x 20.5cm. The SIGN that came off a building in Goulburn Street, Haymarket Sydney is in excellent condition for its age and use. As can be seen in the photos, there are slight age marks on the edges and around the 8 holes from where the SIGN was attached to the building.
