CHEMISTRY: THE CONQUEST OF MATERIALS by Kenneth Hutton.
"This is the story of how man has discovered the composition of natural products, imitated them, and in some cases improved upon them, and the explanation of the nature of such substances as vitamins, hormones, penicillin, cocaine, nylon and silicones." Written by an Oxford educated chemistry teacher, this book provides a glimpse into this fascinating science as it appeared in the mid-20th century.
Published in 1957 as Penguin Book A353, it is in good aged condition with some fading and soiling to covers and rubbing and creasing at edges and corners. There is a small (1 cm) tear at bottom of spine. Age spotting and yellowing to pages but binding is firm an all pages are intact. Free from internal annotations. Please see photos.
