Baby Sunrose – Aptenia cordifolia
The typical plant we are selling can be seen in picture 2. Other images are for illustrative purposes only showing the flowers on this plant.
Also known as the heartleaf Iceplant, Baby Sunrose is an excellent ground cover for south east Queensland. It’s easy to grow and produces abundant vibrant red flowers though out the year. Bees and other beneficial insects love the bright flowers as it gives them a source of pollen and nectar to feed on. I like growing this plant as a ground cover near my fruit trees to train the bees to visit the area.
Plant Care
Grows to a height of around 15cm and will creep along to cover the ground. It loves full sun and prefers well drained soils. Baby Sunrose is rather drought tolerant and requires little water once established. It can be grown in hanging baskets or gardens beds where it makes a great weed suppressant and beautiful addition to your garden.
