Orange Giant Dragon Fruit Plant
$35
SHIPPING OFFERED
This is one of my sweetest dragon fruit
The plant for sale is a cutting grown plant shown in the photo with a ruler. Other images are for illustrative purposes only.
Orange giant is unrelated to the orange dwarf. Both plants have a mutation that makes the skin of the fruit orange. The orange giant produces larger sweeter fruit and is easier to grow compared to the orange dwarf.
The Fruit
Orange giant produces good sized fruits around 400g. It has a fantastic taste which has a sweet berry-like flavour. It is a very sweet dragon fruit, at around 23 brix when fully ripened on the plant.
Flavour: ★★★★★
Fruiting time: Spring to Autumn
Plant Care
This variety needs cross pollination to fruit. It is self-sterile. It is beneficial to hand pollinate all pitaya, guides can be found on YouTube. Pitaya need a heavy support to climb up and hang over to flower. Being a jungle cactus, they prefer regular watering as long as it drains away from the stem quickly. They prefer rich soil and monthly feeds with composted chicken manure pellets. During flowering give additional potassium (potash of sulphate) to help develop fruit. Take care when pruning this variety; the lobes are a bit spikey.
Plant Vigour: ★★★★
Please leave a message to arrange a time to see or purchase the plant
Optional: Shipping is available to NSW, VIC, QLD for an additional $25 for a box that can fit up to 3 pots
