$49
Peanut Butter Tree - Bunchosia glandulifera
Pick up in Tewantin
The plants we are selling can be seen in the picture with the ruler. They are seedling grown plants and will typically fruit within a year. The other pictures are for illustrative purposes only showing a typical mature plant and fruit.
The Fruit:
The Peanut Butter Tree has orange-red edible berries that taste sweet and somewhat strikingly like peanut butter! The berries are around the size of a large grape and the sweet, creamy texture makes a delicious treat. It bears abundantly after around 1 year of growing. They can be eaten fresh off the bush, stored in the fridge for a several days or even frozen. They are a stunning and unique addition to an edible back-yard frost free garden.
Plant Care
Peanut butter tree is very hardy once established, but needs a frost-free location. It can be pruned to an edible shrub / hedge or left to turn into small tree. They are quick to grow, particularly over the warmer months. They flower in summer and spring and prefer a tropical or subtropical climate. On the Sunshine Coast, the growth slows right down to a crawl over winter, but bounces right back when spring comes along. They like rich, moist, well-drained soil and prefer it a little bit more acidic than other trees (use a little iron sulfate on the soil if you see young leaves looking pale)

also available in regular size for $30
