Rollinia deliciosa is a species of flowering plant in the custard-apple family; Annonaceae which is native to tropical South America. It is cultivated for its edible fruit.
Fruit
Rollinia fruit taste amazing; they have a soft, creamy and sweet pulp with a definite lemon meringue taste to it. Despite the wonder flavour you won’t find these fruits for sale in the supermarkets because they have a short shelf life and will bruise easily. If you want to enjoy this exotic treat you will have to grow it yourself!
Tree care
It is a fast-growing, flood-tolerant, sun-loving tropical tree, with leaves up to 35 cm long. It can reach a height of 4–15 m, which can bear fruit from seed within 3 years. They are tropical trees and need a frost-free environment. It has a low tolerance for drought, so mulch them well and give additional water during periods of low rainfall. It prefers deep soils rich in organic matter.
