Piano lessons
Hi. My name is Angela Finney. I teach piano to children and adults at my home in Toronto. I completed all my Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) examinations in England many years ago after which I have continued to learn and develop my playing skills and breadth of music experience into other genres. In recent years I added orchestra conducting to my repertoire along with learning to play the tenor saxophone.
You may want your children to play or you may be coming back to the keys after a few years away; I can help. A practice instrument at home is necessary: an acoustic piano, digital piano with weighted keys and pedal (at least one).
Learning to play the piano now is a very different experience from how I learned many years ago; far more enjoyable and interesting! Examinations are not necessarily the aim although they are for some. I focus on skill, technique and learning the means to interpret the musical code on the page but always proceeding at your own pace, not mine. For beginners I use the Faber Piano Adventures courses which are used by many teachers because they are reliable and successful. After learning the basics of musical navigation I will move on to studies and pieces so that the student can accumulate the skills to tackle increasingly challenging music. My aim is to teach students the skills to continue enjoying playing the piano for the whole of their lives as solo and ensemble players.
I am fully vaccinated for COVID-19 and I run a COVID-safe studio.
I charge $35 per half hour, $70 per hour.
My website address starts with lakemacpianolessons.
