Frozen Charlottes or pudding dolls - late Victorian era
$50
These frozen charlottes or pudding dolls were discovered in Melbourne when the 9 hole golf course at Albert Park was reclaimed to accommodate the grand prix track in the 1990s'. The golf course had been built over an old rubbish tip that was closed in 1910 so these dolls predate this. Experts have told me that are probably from the late 1800s' and would have been used as part of a promotional product. When I dug them up there were quite a lot of old partially burnt Cadbury wrappers around them so I presume they may have been used as a promotion for the company.
The dolls are made from bisque and were originally hand painted. I have been told they may have been made and decorated in England or possibly India. Most of the colour has been worn from the dolls due to being subjected to heat in the tip and the amount of time they spent in the ground.
For those that don't know the dolls (apparently) depict small corpses and relate to the fairy tale of the young street urchin who froze to death in the snow while she was looking into rich persons homes when they were celebrating Xmas - macabre!
I have quite a few more of the dolls and would be happy to sell them separately or as a job lot. Obviously, the more that are bought the cheaper I can make them.
Basically I am offering them in lots of a dozen at $50. I will sell smaller amounts in lots of 4 for $20. Let me know if you want more and we can negotiate on price.
Happy to post at cost.

- Poll Audio Monitor 60 tower speakersThe Monitor 60 Polk Audio sports a 1" Dynamic Balance® dome tweeter and three 5-1/4" Dynamic Balance woofers. By using multiple, relatively small woofers, the Monitor 60 delivers rich, clean midrange, more detailed bass, and wide-open, three-dimensional sound. And it allows the speaker to achieve a remarkably slim design, with a footprint of less than one square foot. These are really nice sounding speakers in excellent condition. - DCM Time Window speakers - rare, excellent conditionDCM Time Windows are highly regarded loudspeakers made in the US from the early 80s’. They are still sought after and this pair is in very good operational and cosmetic condition. The array of drivers, two mid bass and two tweeters facing forward but angled, gives them a wide dispersion of sound resulting in a very open and almost omni directional effect. Their transmission line design also ensures they have excellent bass response. These speakers are pretty amazing and definitely worth a list$450Windsor, QLD•3d
- Klipsch Tangent speakers - vintage, excellent conditionKlipsch Tangent 30 speakers were made in the late 1980s’’ and feature Klipsch’s twin bass and horn loaded compression driver design. These are highly efficient and do not require a high powered amplifier to drive them. These are not to be confused with Klipsch speakers of today which lack mid range and are more designed for surround applications. The Tangents were Klipsch's mass market speakers for those who could not afford the Heritage line. This speaker uses two 8" woofers in a sealed box$795Windsor, QLD•3d
