Selling my 2006 Pathfinder with Rego till 21 may 2024. Had the car for the past 7 years, before that it was with my in-laws for around 4 years, which he bought from a total stranger. The car has been a great rig for us during its time under our family and money has been spent on it to keep it going. While having it, I have done the following timing chain (full kit) (6 months ago) New spark plugs and coils (all 6) Have not driven it off road, but did a couple of moving houses towing a trailer

WHAT TO LOOK OUT FOR: NISSAN PATHFINDER (2013 ONWARDS)

This version of the Pathfinder's 'CVT' transmission has been a source of concern for some owners. We do have to make the point, however, that the bulk of complaints have been from North American Pathfinder owners.

In any case, the complaints over the CVT centre around a jerkiness to the operation which, to be fair, can often be a characteristic of CVTs as opposed to an actual fault.

The best advice is to drive the car first and see whether you could live with the way it works.

The Pathfinder was also subject to a few recalls in Australia, starting with a bonnet that could fly open at speed. Another recall was for faulty brake lights that could actually remain illuminated even when the brakes weren't applied. That would be funny if it didn't also mean that, in some cases, the car could then select Drive or Reverse from Park without the brakes applied.

There was also a recall to check the fuel tank for strength to prevent potential leaks and another for cars fitted with Nissan's accessory nudge-bar which could become detached thanks to incorrect fitment.

A Nissan dealer will be able to identify affected cars and check to see whether they've been fixed or not.
