Little Gem’ is a small, beautiful evergreen tree with dark, glossy green leaves with a velvety brown underside. It produces large white fragrant flowers, usually in summer/autumn but will flower throughout the year. It makes a fantastic hedge or screen, or a lovely specimen tree. ‘Little Gem’ will grow to 4 – 5 metres tall and 2 – 2.5 metres wide in the first 10 years and can potentially grow bigger. The pink to red new foliage and its yellow flowers are the best qualities of this very adaptable bottlebrush. This is one of the few bottlebrushes that grows into a tree and it can also tolerate waterlogged soils for extended periods as well as being drought tolerant should you get to the other extreme in your garden. An elegant tree with a broad, spreading dome-like canopy, the jacaranda offers lush green foliage with a soft, almost fern-like, appearance. But it’s the flowers that jacarandas are all about!
