A relative, who was an Officer on the ship Raimondo Montecuccoli which bought the Italian Olympic Team to Melbourne for the Olympics in 1956, purchased this set in Japan in 1956 as a gift to my Aunty. The brand is HHP and it displays the face of a Geisha on the bottom when you lift the cup up to the light. I believe this is called lithophane and usually found on Japanese Moriage Dragonware Sets.
