Offered for "Expressions of Interest" is an original Australian Cedar Wardrobe of substantial historical significance. It was commissioned by the Roman Catholic Church (St. Augustine's Balmain) to be made by Sydney cabinetmakers Alex W. Norton for the opening of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception on 22 April 1877. A complete account of provenance will be provided to the purchaser. It is original, complete & unmodified. It shows an original ink on paper label - "ALEX W. NORTON CABINETMAKER

Presented in original, complete & well preserved condition. Functions - Hour & minutes by the silvered chapter ring, seconds by internal dial, date by internal escutcheon, moon phase in the upper arch & an alarm dial to the centre. Serial No. 39823 Excellent condition, has been refurbished and repolished. Has original keys, was tuned for years by ex Palings tuner. Beautiful piece of oak furniture and quality sound. We were told it was built in the Annandale factory in Sydney by trained Beale employees brought out from Germany, so it is also a part of Australian history..
