A formal two height, cantilever secretaire bookcase of elegant proportions figured in flame mahogany. It is a quality build that was made in London between 1845 & 1855. The structure is solid honduras mahogany. The backing boards, which are bolection panelling, & shelving are fine grade baltic pine. Dimensions are 7'6" x 4'. The secretaire drawer front is fielded with a burr mahogany panel which is segregated from figured crossbanding by ogee recessed moulding & finished in pencil cockbeading.

Offered for "Expressions of Interest" is an original Australian Cedar Wardrobe of substantial historical significance. It was commissioned by the Roman Catholic Church (St. Augustine's Balmain) to be made by Sydney cabinetmakers Alex W. Norton for the opening of the Convent of the Immaculate Conception on 22 April 1877. A complete account of provenance will be provided to the purchaser. It is original, complete & unmodified. Each piece is hallmarked Sheffield 1901 & bears the makers stamp of "SB" (Stainton Bros) to the ferrule. Handles are the finest, genuine "White Bone" & are substantial.
