It was from a Melbourne based shop setup in the mid 70’s. This Indian carpet runner is c.1980. It was inherited with several other rugs (now sold on) as there are no more rooms to place them in. It is of very fine hand knotted handspun wool and natural vegetable dyes. It is a cottage weave. Size 621cm long x 81cm wide. It measures 3m x 2m, the foundation warp & weft is silk & the handknotted nap is select goats wool. It is woven at the rate of 80 raj, which equates to 900 nots per square inch & it is kefted. It was woven in the weaving house in the city of Isfahan & completed in the year 2000. It is signed by the master weaver & I have the certificate of completion.
