One of the faster-growing palms which withstands cold weather better than most palms, the Cocos when well-watered and maintained is a beautiful palm. It will grow to at least 10m but is not self-cleaning so regular maintenance is required to keep it attractive. We have 3 specimens 1.5m high in 200mm pots.

Native to Australia the Bangalow is an attractive palm which is self-cleaning (sheds old leaves) so is easier to care for. It loves a good drink and will grow to around 10m high in Perth, although in the tropics they will grow much taller. We have 2 specimens around 1.5m high in 320mm pots.

The Golden Cane Palm is one of the most popular palms around. It has a clumping growth habit, along with very attractive yellow canes and feathered green fronds. It prefers bright, indirect light. If planted in a pot indoors, place it near a window that receives bright, filtered light and do not over-water. It makes a great indoor plant but it can be planted in the garden as a screen or specimen plant. One of ours is around 7m high. We have 2 specimens, around 1.5m high in 320mm pots.

A suckering plant which needs a little room. Once the plant has fruited it will be the next sucker which will fruit.We have had some success in getting bananas from our plants where they have some protection from wind. Small, sweet fruit. The perfect lunchbox banana! They need to be grown in the sun if they are to fruit. 1 plant in a 300mm pot is available. Well-grown and sun-hardened. The bunch of bananas in the photos is one that is currently on our own large palm.
